Kyushu University Hospital Embraces Innovation with Belimed and Muranaka
A Decade-Long Partnership Yields Cutting-Edge Results
In a remarkable showcase of long-term collaboration and technological advancement, Kyushu University Hospital, one of Japan’s prestigious former imperial university hospitals, has successfully upgraded its Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) with equipment from Belimed and Muranaka Medical Instruments Co. Ltd.
The Project at a Glance
In July 2024, the hospital, which has 1,252 beds and 21 operating rooms, secured an order for 12 WD290IQ units and a customized WA290 transport system. This upgrade builds upon a relationship that began in 2013 with the installation of 12 WD290 units and a rotary transport system.
Innovative Solutions for Modern Challenges
The project tackled several key issues, including:
1. Space Optimization: An L-shaped redesign reduced floor space by 65%, creating a more efficient work environment.
2. Ergonomic Improvements: A custom-designed manual conveyor system eliminated the need for staff to lift heavy racks from the floor.
3. Real-Time Monitoring: The implementation of SmartHub, now available in Japanese, allows for improved CSSD oversight.
The Power of Localization
A standout feature of this project is the localization of SmartHub for the Japanese market. This development not only caters to the specific needs of Kyushu University Hospital but also opens doors for improved service across Japan’s healthcare sector.
Looking Ahead
With installation completed earlier this year, this project stands as a testament to the power of sustained collaboration between Belimed and Muranaka, innovative problem-solving, and the importance of tailoring global solutions to local needs.
